Client Spotlight: Chrissy Bogue

There are a lot of real estate agents in New York so how is one to stand out from all the fierce competition and become a shining star in this line of work? I think we all can take a lesson from Chrissy Bogue who has her personal branding down packed to perfection. From the moment she called me to schedule her lifestyle branding photo shoot, I knew she is on top of her branding game and it will be a treat to work with someone like that.

And she did not disappoint. You can’t help but fall in love with her personality from the moment you meet her. She exudes good energy and makes you feel so comfortable around her like you have known her for years. No wonder so many people trust Chrissy with one of the most important decisions of their lives, buying or selling their homes.

Her warm and bubbly personalty is amplified with all the pink around her, from her clothing to props to a sticker on her car. However it is all done in a classy and tasteful way. Once you meet Chrissy, it’s hard to forget her and that is the essence of great personal branding. Her enthusiasm for her profession is so contagious that I asked her to sit down with me for interview a few days after our shoot. If you would like to get in touch with Chrissy her info is on the bottom of this page.

Q. Why did you decide to follow a career in real estate? And how long have you been in real estate?

A. I decided to follow a career in real estate because I absolutely love helping people go through the emotional process with one of life’s biggest purchases and sales. I genuinely care for my clients and listen intently to their concerns. I treat them as I would a friend which I feel sets me apart from the rest.

Q. What is one of the challenges you face in the industry?

A. Right now one of the challenges I face in the industry is that since we are in a Sellers Market right now the prices of homes have skyrocketed and buyers are having to offer out thousands of dollars above list price just to secure the home of their dreams or because of how fast the market is going combined with the lack of inventory they lose out on their dream home due to getting outbidded since everyone is striving for the same home.

Q. Who are your real estate mentors? Or someone you look up to?

A. I would say my real estate mentor and the person I look up to most in this industry is my manager Joshua Whalley at the Babylon branch. Since he's worked on all sides of a real estate transaction being mortgages, appraisals and now real estate he really knows all the ins and outs of getting a deal across the finish line. He's extremely patient and the most knowledgeable person I've ever come across in this industry. He's also incredibly funny and gets my humor so it's a win win.

Q. What do you enjoy most about your day-to-day job?

A. What I enjoy most about my day to day job is that everyday is different from the next. I get to meet new people, see new places, and respond to the changing needs of buyers and sellers—which often means shifting gears at the last minute. I love that about this career.

Q. What are you most proud of professionally and personally?

A. I am most proud of myself for achieving two big goals I had set for myself in this past year. One was to get a million dollar listing in which case I ended up listing a $2.3 million dollar home in Southampton! The other goal was to get agent of the month in my office which isn't an easy task but I accomplished that for the month of April.

Q. Tell us about your first sale.

A. My first sale was special because it ended up being for a family I grew up with since I was little and who lived a few blocks away from where I grew up. It made me so happy to help them sell their home that they lived in for 40 plus years and get into an amazing 55 and over community that was in the neighborhood they really wanted to be in. It was an emotional process that I'm so glad I got to assist them on.

Q. What should people look for when hiring a real estate agent?

A. When people are looking to hire a real estate agent I think if I was on the other side of it and I was them I would be looking for someone who genuinely shows they care and are really listening to my needs and why I'm looking to buy or sell. When someone is selling a home it's because there's a life change happening whether it be they are having a baby and need a bigger home or someone in their family has passed away so I want to be that vessel that helps them make the journey an enjoyable one.

Q. What advice would you give someone who wants to start a career in real estate?

A. Advice I would give to someone who wants to start a career in real estate is to really never stop learning. I am constantly watching videos, reading books and learning from my manager every single day. I want to feed myself with so much knowledge and really hone my craft so that I can deliver the best possible experience to my clients.

Q. What is the best way to differentiate yourself from other real estate agents?

A. The best way I feel to differentiate yourself from other real estate agents is to really be yourself and show people you actually care about them. I treat every client as if they were my own family member or friend. I want people to feel like they are working with a close friend or their family. Having heart is irreplaceable.
